I use 14 gauge for my snares and DPs, never had an issue with it not holding. This is from the coyote today

Has anyone used electric fence wire wrapped around a tree?
No it’s too stiff for me. If I’m anchoring to a tree I’ve started using 1/8” cable extensions.

When I use a 18” stake I put a bend in the middle a little like this ) so when u drive it in the ground makes a lot harder to pull out. If my dog proofs are by the road I have a couple chain to concrete regular blocks. :)

When I was a kid a old black man had the regular steel traps tied to little trees. Dirt set and tied off about a foot high. Then he had a tin can tied to the top of the tree. Tree about 4’ tall. In the can was a rock. Coon shake the tree can rattled and he would leave the fire go get coon.
