Oaks regularly cross
Yup. At first glance I thought it was a white oak from the bark, but the leaves look like water oak leaves. I’m placing all my bets on swamp post oak. I also haven’t seen acorns on them, or any old hulls beneath them. If they are anything like the plain ole post oaks around my house they don’t produce acorns very often.Chris, is that the one that has white oak bark, but almost a water oak leaf as you get higher up the tree? Never seen an acorn on them before if so and wondered what they were

It does appear to match very closely to reference material you posted. Also matches very closely with swamp post oak.It is a swamp white oak. Not the same as a “regular” white oak, but close.
