While it’s true about the sand bars. A lot of the standing timber is gone. Wolf creek is a perfect example. It still has standing timber but nothing like it used to be. There used to be so much timber in Yellow Jacket if the lake was down 5 feet you really had to watch it.It just sets up some patterns that I like to fish for both striped fish and largemouth. Shad are already wanting to bunch up at that time and this will just concentrate them even more.
It is also a fantastic time to just ride and look. I've found so much structure over the years when the water gets super low. It is a great time to mark it mentally and with a waypoint for the next year.
I'll also go ahead and mention that it will be a somewhat dangerous time. That water level puts a lot of still standing timber at water level or just under. Upriver will be very dangerous if you aren't familiar. There will be tons of sandbars exposed or with inches of water.
