Have never used a fly rod . Keep threatening to try it . Got a pond behind house with plenty of unobstructed area to practice .

Nice looking flies brother! I need to go "creek walking" with you this summer if you want some company. I have a sweet little 3wt that would be ideal. I imagine those cast great with a glass rod too. By the way, if you are serious about Minnesota next fall, be tying some egg sucking leeches because pink salmon on a 4 or 5 weight are fun and if there are salmon running, why not catch a few for the fun of it? I know you want to smallmouth fish, and if we have a canoe, I know some places where smallmouth, pike and musky lurk amongst the pads and rocks.... with FS Campgrounds on the shore and plenty of grouse in the surrounding woods.
