Capela is 37??? Might be a bad trade then

Didn't know Nene was injured, his contract might help with cap space going into the off season

No!!!

Be more careful in your reading.

Nene Hilario is old at 37, turns 38 in Sept., but Hawks were probably forced to take him for the rest of the season when his contract ends as part of the deal to get super star Capela.

Clint Capela is young at 25, turns 26 in May, but Atlanta has his contract through the 2022-23 season from what I heard on sports radio news.

Who told you I could read? @BornToHuntAndFish

Good one. Good game going on right now with less than a minute left where Hawks have a fine chance at winning against another losing record team that was also involved in that big 4-team 12-player deal.

Glad to have another person showing interest in basketball.

Hawks now have 3-players regularly producing double doubles which ought to take Atlanta to the next level of competition & strike intimidation into other teams which includes those at the top levels of conferences & divisions.

Last time Capela played against the Hawks, he delivered 22-pts & 22-reb.

https://www.nba.com/hawks/tradenews

ATLANTA HAWKS ACQUIRE CLINT CAPELA AND NENE IN FOUR-TEAM DEAL

Capela, originally selected 25th overall by the Rockets in the 2014 NBA Draft, has averaged 12.2 points on .634 shooting, 9.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 26.0 minutes per game over his 334 career games (274 starts). In 39 games (all starts) this season, the 6-foot-10, 240-pound center is averaging 13.9 points on .629 shooting (4th in the NBA), 13.8 rebounds (4th in the NBA) and 1.9 blocks (7th in the NBA) in 32.8 minutes per game. A native of Switzerland, Capela currently ranks 10th in the NBA with 27 double-doubles, including four double-doubles of at least 20 points and 20 rebounds.

The five-year veteran has played in 61 playoff games (39 starts) with averages of 8.3 points on .606 shooting, 7.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 21.4 minutes per game. During the 2018-19 season, Capela, 25, ranked second in the NBA in field goal percentage (.648) and became just the third different player in NBA history to have shot at least .640 from the field while averaging at least 16.0 points per game in a single season joining Wilt Chamberlain and Artis Gilmore. He will wear jersey No. 17.

Nene, a 17-year veteran, has appeared in 965 games (626 starts) with Denver, Washington and Houston. The 6-foot-11 center from Brazil has averaged 11.3 points on .548 shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest in 26.2 minutes per game. In 91 postseason games (56 starts), he posted averages of 9.2 points on .530 shooting, 5.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists. Nene has not played this season due to a hip adductor injury.

Fine win for the Hawks with 2-players having double doubles, Young & Collins, along with 2 others that were very close to having double doubles, Jones & Goodwin, and finally having 5-players scoring in double figures.

Minnesota has a 13-game losing streak, but had a hot strong scary run at the end with a 43-pt. 4th Qtr. Atlanta has probably lost at least double digit games after leading games in the 4th Qtr., but this time stays hot delivering 3 out of 4 Qtrs. with at least 30 or more pts.

Hawks

3PT = 40.6%

Trae Young - 38 PTS, 11 AST

John Collins - 27 PTS, 12 REB

Damian Jones - 14 PTS, 8 REB

De'Andre Hunter - 12 PTS, 5 REB

Hawks get a young guard, a young forward, & projected 2nd-round pick as the trade deadline closes in.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id...ers-derrick-walton-jr-blazers-skal-labissiere

Hawks waive Nene, agree to trades with Clippers for Derrick Walton Jr., Blazers for Skal Labissiere

Atlanta Hawks requested waivers on center Nene on Thursday, the team announced.

Hawks also have agreed to trades with the LA Clippers to acquire guard Derrick Walton Jr. in exchange for cash, and with the Portland Trail Blazers for forward Skal Labissiere and cash in exchange for a future protected second-round pick

Nene's $2.7 million salary for the 2020-21 season would have become guaranteed if he had not been waived by Feb. 15

Good to have Trae Young back in action on home turf tonight after missing the last game with an injury.

Before the trade deadline this week, Atlanta stacked in some big tall players for rebounding & defensive help.

Slow start for the Hawks in the 1st Qtr against another losing record team, the Knicks, but nice comeback to tie it up in the 2nd Qtr & only be down by 2 at halftime.

Looking like another roller coaster ride in the 2nd Half.

Thrilling 2-OT win for the Hawks with strong 2nd & 3rd Qtrs. but hungry comeback from behind in the 4th Qtr, 1st & 2nd OT's to tie & eventually keep the lead. NY Knicks as 3 strong Qtrs. with 30+ pts. Atlanta had 2 double doubles for Young & Collins, but Hunter & Dedmon were close to double doubles while Dedmon's 1st game back on the team delivered 5 blocks.

I missed Monday's game since Hawks rarely play 2-days in a row like after Sunday's win, while Orlando Magic rested on Sunday after their Saturday game.

Hawks were winning after each of the first 3-Qtrs with no weak Qtrs & 30+ pts. in the last 3-Qtrs, but the Magic had a big hot 42-pt. 4th Qtr to win. Atlanta had 6-players scoring in double figures along with almost 2 more while 4-players were close to getting double doubles. Jeff Teague had a game leading 11-assists to go with his 8-pts.

With a weak start in 1st Qtr down by 14, not a good sign tonight for Hawks down by 17 at Halftime & down by 18 at end of the 3rd Qtr against another team with a bad losing record.

Doubt any jinx with Cavaliers playing way better than usual with 3 double doubles, shooting 51%, & dominating rebounding 55-38. Maybe Hawks just looking forward to the all-star break & hopeful bringing back better players in next game Feb. 20. Atlanta could've came into the game being over confident in this last place team battle in the Eastern Conference.

Saw tv sports news replays of it but did not know he did it to Harden. Never heard the term nutmeg used that way, but now I know. Thx for posting.
