About 8 acres of new food patches... (February pics added below)

Been working late this summer and into the fall to cut in some new plots.

Three of the areas equal 6 acres and the rest is in a few smaller areas.

Planning on pulling some 2020 deer in and feeding them up.

Best of luck to all!

new Deere seems right at home with you!!

Yessir, David - loving it so far.

We are also replacing the disc for the Kubota this year (finally!) and intend to get another Frontier disc. Very heavily built.

The old disc is busted right now (as usual) but I am gonna cobble it back together and use it for fire breaks.

Season is not over yet - the work now is aimed at 2020.

What's the Frontier cost? Is it 5 or 6 ft?

Bloodi

It is 6’ 4” (76”) and it lists for $2800.

It may even be a bit of a struggle for the little 4wd 32 hp Kubota but I think it will be ok. It pulled the 60” just fine.

I just want a disk that is HARDER to tear up!

Didn’t say I couldn’t do it - just want it to be more of a challenge!

I know it is an expensive disk and am OK with that if I can get quality.

No sir, David, it is not.

Thank God.

We should remember that the smell and feel of freshly worked dirt, along with the 100 shades of green that come up in a planted field - are a gift from our creator.

Great time to reflect and remember the reason for the season!!!!

Are the Frontier's built better than Brown's?

Core,

I can’t answer that, have not used a Brown disc.

One way to compare might be to look at discs (let’s say 8’ as that is what I pull with the Deere) and see which one weighs more - as long as they are the same number of discs.

I would say - in general - the heavier one is most likely more durable.

Frontier does make lighter sets of disc’s - but I am not buying them.

I want durability even if it costs me more on the front end.

Got a fellow GON member quoting a Brown disc now,,,,,

Brown is the top of the line around here. Very heavy and built like a tank.

I can find the disc but don’t immediately see the specs on it.

That’s some good looking dirt

Ooops -

The fields had good moisture on them that day.

Our soils, for the most part - are relatively sandy.

When pH corrected, they grow pretty well.

Our problem is one of size. We cannot get out in front of the herd - jokers are like lawnmowers.

Thanks for the comment!
