I am heading to Cohutta for a few days again this year for a bear hunt. Wondering if anybody has any tips/pointers for what these bears are doing late in the year. I leave Saturday and come back Wednesday so I'll have plenty of time in the woods. Any help would be great. Thank you!!

Bowhunting bears in December will be tough. I'd walk, spot and stalk and cover some ground.

Consider hunting national forest and using a rifle. The bears don’t know the difference between NF and Cohutta I saw the same bear twice last week, but I have not found any fresh scat. So, they are still out but perhaps not so active. Look for them to be in the sunny side of ridges in the morning. Find fresh scat or keep walking.
