Belisle 330s are the best on the market in my opinion, you will never have to replace them, but they are a little more pricey. Rob

Those 650's are strong traps,I'm sure they would hold one.If I was going to buy some new ones I 'd get the 750's,alot bigger jaw spread. That's just my opinion. Some places the coni's and snares will work better,I guess if you're gonna do it you need to learn to use all of them.I'm still learning.

Check out the CDR for foothold. Also the TS-85 by Kaatz Brothers. Jaw spread is important for beaver especially if you set up for back foot catch. 650 is a great trap but I wouldn't use it for beaver if I had a choice. 750 is an excellent trap. I bought a few #5 Bridger longsprings and found them to be poorly made. Just my opinion...lots of beaver caught in them. Snares are cheap and work very well when you learn how and where to place them. Also check out the cage traps by AdvanceTrap.com and ComstockCustomCages.

My favorites....
CDR or TS-85 on an 8' drowning ROD.
Camlock Snare
Belisle 330
Expecting my new Comstock cage to become a favorite as well.

Thanks guy's, mb750, belisle 330, and some snares. I know there's no need in waxing but do you still dye the traps? thanks again for all your help.

up to you, but I would

I have had good success both with dye and with painting them black or brown, actually. If you go with paint, clean the oil off with a degreaser prior to painting. I have also bought some precoated that do very well (they are a dark green). The main thing is you want to prevent rust. I am only talking about 330 body grips here by the way.

Man I miss bare hunter. I got to know him about 2010 when I was going around checking in with licensed trappers in my area. We kind of hit it off. Did a little trading of traps and videos. He introduced me to com stock traps which I hope to buy a few now to use on the farm.
RIP friend.

I remember his posts on here. He seemed like a knowledgeable guy. A lot of wisdom in his posts.
