My .50 Hawken was marked like that. Gave that one to my son to get him started ML.

Just me, but I would pull the ball, then go from there. I`d be leery about shooting it until the barrel was tested fully.

I shot a sabot out of that rifle. .50 sleeve with a .325 grain Barnes .45 hollow point in it. It was like shooting any 45/70, very accurate within its range.
