Did you reload anything today #4

Jester their are more gadgets to this hobby than I ever dreamed of... Yes those are on my list as well as an annealing machine.
I don't even want to begin totaling how much money I have in all of the hand loading tools/dies etc I have. But I have spread the cost over 20 years so it doesn't impact the bank account so much.

Yes I started reloading in the early 80's with an RCBS Rock Chucker and 5-10 scale. I have graduated to a charge master and gradually added accessories. I don't think I can add up what's invested. :>

I use Mo's gauges for most of my stuff

we have made them with Wilson case gauges and turning them for the thimbles. The Hornady Headspace Comparator I have works pretty good too.

Just messing around in the shop this morning and found this underneath all the Dust. Halfway thought about what gun I wanted to hunt next season so I made these up. Will run them over the Chrono and see how they do. 6mm cal.

Last couple of years been building up my reloading equipment. Finally got a Hornady Comparator . Now I can be more accurate with my seating depth. Rolled some 30-06 150gn Accubond. Hope the rain hold off Saturday so I can give them a ride.
What powder did you use? I load 30-06 150 Accubonds over Big Game out of desperation in a Savage with “savage” results. I couldn’t get 4064, 4895, or 4350 to shoot them straight in that gun.

I am using Ramshot Hunter with OK results. Going to try adjusting seating dept to see if groups improve. I have loaded H4350 and had decent groups. Still work in progress.

H4350 with a 150 SGK has been stellar in my Savage 116 30-06 for high velocity loads. Have also had good luck with RL15 for lower velocity loads in multiple different guns.

Now I didn’t need them… yet.

But I drew my bull elk tag with 13 years of points.

So a 0.8 BC around 3,000 fps under H100 or Retumbo makes me want more.

I bought a bag of these cheap two years ago and they shoot well.

You need to stretch the legs out with those. 1000 yard shots should be easy with that kind of BC. You gotta find a long range if you don't have one. :)

Put these together early this morning. E2FF3EEE-C6F1-49BC-97FE-94227A4B185C.jpegI’ll give them a “shot” this evening and see what happens. The Lehigh listed C.O.A.L. where I was going to start had the crimping groove beneath the case neck, so I added 55 thousandths for a starting point.

That should cover the entire load range. Is it really a crimp grove? I have noticed they have a deeper grove to reduce friction followed by shallower groves depending on caliber where Barnes are all the same depth

Lest night we loaded 500 147gr pulled 9mm fmj flat points from American Reloading over 6.3gr of AA7.

Today I’m separating .38 Spl and .357 Mag cases so I can prep a few hundred .38’s before is start packing for my move from Woodstock to Calhoun.

I’ve been getting around to feeding the deer guns for this fall. IMR4350 charges under a 120gr partition in the .257 Roberts and same powder under a 140gr partition in the .280 Remington.

Waiting on some 118gr HHT Hammers and ill
Get the .7-08 squared away soon.

I shoot near the in-laws place out to 500 and there's another place I plan on visiting that's got an 800. We'll be at a spot this weekend I can shoot to around 1200 but don't have loads ready just yet... I'll probably take my 308 just to get long distance trigger time in anyhow.

Has anyone here loaded this brass?

These have very tight primer pockets. I even hit them a little with the reamer, and it still takes both hands and a lot of strength to seat primers in them.

Real time from the range. Starting out good after the low charge safety shots. I think the Winchester primers may be the way to go with R/S Hunter. I was using CCI in the other loads.36EFA2C5-AB15-4BCA-A1AE-B4D07E9E9E40.jpegAnd then it started going downhill quickly.E78A04D3-B49B-42CF-87CC-BAF9E9F25CA8.jpeg
The low left was on me. I sprayed the pecans, pears, and grapes waiting for the barrel to cool down and got sweat running down my face before the last group. I’m going to load up 4 from the 2 best groups and shoot them again next week.4F33011B-1227-42C7-B5F7-5296D536CE09.jpeg

Son and I are planning a range trip next Thursday. I'd given him all of my factory target ammo for 9mm & .45acp.
I needed some range ammo for the outing for the guns I'm taking.

Slipped into the messy future reloading room / man-cave this afternoon and ran the Co-Ax & the Forster Benchrest Primer.
  • 100rds .38 Super. Starline brass & 150gr Bayou lswc over AA#7-8.8gr.

Charges came from another measure, double checked them on the handy digital scale. AC was on, so I put the lid down. I have diverters on the overhead AC vents, but wanted to be sure. (y)

Gauged checked & boxed up.

  • 100rds 9mm. Norma brass & 125gr BlueBullets truncated over 3.9gr Sport Pistol.

Took a break for dinner and to watch DJT in The Bronx.
Dinner was mediocre but I enjoyed The Bronx gathering. :D

Not sure If I'll get back to the bench before bedtime.......but more loading is needed before next Thursday:
  • 6.5 Grendel
  • 6.5 NeedsMoore
  • .45acp
  • .44 mag
Range trip is a week away, but I'm already looking forward to it.

Today’s project is done. .38 Spl cases sized, belled and primed.

450 sorted by head stamp, 150 assorted, and 38 nickel plated. That’s all the nickel that I had. My friend that I load with will prep another 12 to complete the box.

About half will get 158gr soft lead hollow points over 3.1 of W231 for defensive rounds in snub nosed airweight Smiths. The rest will get our standard target load of a 158gr plated semi-wadcutter over 4.2gr of W231. IMG_2903.jpegIMG_2904.jpeg
