High end steak

Just curious, how much was the most expensive steak you've ever had and was it worth it? Was it the best steak you've ever had? My brother bought me a $200, 40 day dry aged 20 oz. ribeye from Hy's in Toronto when I visited him. I think it came with foie gras potatoes. I don't think I'd get it again.

I've never tried Wagyu but I'd like to.

Most high end steak was a ribeye with fois gras. Was definitely good, but I've cooked better.

Best beef steak I can remember was probably some monstrous tomahawks I did a few years ago. Grilled indirect until near temp, then seared and let rest.

Best steak I ever ate came from a bear.

I have a feeling there will be plenty of "Best steak is at my house" answers.
Anybody ever cook Wagyu at home?

At the risk of sounding cliched, I've eaten steaks at some pretty expensive steakhouses. Still, the best ones I remember were grilled at home or over hardwood coals at a campsite in the woods. A regular old ribeye from Ingles is good enough for me. I can't really tell a lot of difference in the dry aged prime stuff, to be honest. I've never eaten or cooked wagyu.
Most restaurants put too many overpowering seasonings, marinades, and such on a steak. I like the taste of the steak itself.

Agree there's just a limit on how good something can be . Ive had hot dogs boiled on the shores of a young lake Lanier at night that was as good as anything I have eaten . This was back when our family would camp in an empty cove and fish from the bank for crappie , we never dreamed of owning a boat , we were close to being poor .

I totally agree that the situation and location has allot to do with how pleasurable the dining experience is. Is there a restaurant steak that you would want to have just one more time in your life?

Boneless ribeye from Prime Steakhouse in Las Vegas. Wife took me there this past December for my birthday. It was absolutely fantastic. I'm not a steak sauce person, but they bring three to the table. The soy rice wine sauce took the steak to another level that I didn't think was possible.
That sauce sounds like one of the ones that they give you at a Korean BBQ.

Those are pretty reasonable prices. Better than home made?

Did you have to cook the bear steak passed medium? What muscle was it from?
