Of growth and expectations

Godly Expectations

You have Christ living in you. He has already proven through his resurrection that sin and death are no match for him. He won the battle. Now his victory is your victory.

Sounds nice, but how does it work practically?

This is where faith comes into play. In his letter to the Galatians, Paul likens faith to a walk: "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh" (Galatians 5:16). What he means by this is that we are to order our lives around the Holy Spirit. In other words, follow his lead. Keep in step with what he is doing in your life.

Saying yes to God's Spirit means you will not carry out the desires of the flesh. With Christ in you, you can "deny ungodliness and...live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age" (Titus 2:12).

This is reality even if in our weaknesses we cannot successfully articulate it.

Growth takes time. Learning who Jesus is and listening with faith can be a foreign matter to many, and even religion will come along and stress the rule book rather than faith and total dependence in the finished work of Jesus.

Give yourself time as God reveals to you the simple beauty of walking in the Spirit. It just might quench the accusers shaming filth by knowing choices of His inner Life lived out.

Worth rejoicing, no?
