Old Rocking chair-refinish/recover

Here's an old rocker I did the wood on and my brother( bobo&hobbs) did the recovering. Id say its a good 70 to 80 years old, stuffed with straw and covered with burlap. Wish I had before pics but my bro didnt send me them once he finished it and sent pics. The wood was varnished so dark that the grain was not even visible in the wood. This was done I suppose due to the different woods in the chair. I like the stain I re-applied as it show the wood's character, pretty old chair I think.
The customer chose the green velvet, makes it retain that antique feel.

Maybe my bro can post before pics for comparison of before and after.

Nice job ! Those old chairs seem to be more comfortable than the new ones.

my brother is in the business, upolhster, antique furniture, recover, auto seat repair. I did the wood on this chair for them and may do some others just for fun. It was a non priority job so I got to mess with it.

I took that chair down with acetone and light steel wool, wear good rubber gloves if you do this

Also, they make furniture stripper you apply with a brush and rub off with steel wool, wear gloves too.

Hope this helps
