Phantom Fireworks

I was going to buy some fireworks but when the clerk wanted to scan my DL I balked. Is this a stupid store policy or state requirement ? I don't see it mentioned on the GA fireworks laws....

May be something new since people have started taking them apart and making IED's out of pressure cookers. I've been making at least one significant purchase with them once a year for about the past ten and can't say I recall them scanning my license. I am a member of their "club" and perhaps all the info for that suffices in place of the license.

Also just bought about $300 worth from a different outlet for New Year's and don't think they scanned it either.
