The family that owns the 14,000-acre Pine Log Wildlife Management Area in Bartow County is in talks to sell the property to the state of Georgia, potentially preserving land that the owners have pitched for commercial, residential and industrial development over the next two decades.

I hope the state buys the property. The area around me would have a lot less traffic. I didn’t move out here to have 1600 neighbors and truck traffic associated with an industrial park.

I heard it on the way back from hunting. They spent two hours on it. There might be nothing that can be done at this point but it can't hurt to sign the petition:

What good would that do? You could tax everyone in the state a dollar and still would not have 3% of what you needed if that is the number to buy it. Get people to donate a grand or 10 grand a piece instead of “signing” some dumb change.org petition and you might make some headway. But that isn’t how it works right? People want the “guberment” to buy the stuff they want using other people’s money. I love to hunt as much as the next guy, but there are waaaay more important things for the state to spend 400 million on than buying hunting land.

Last time I bow hunt Dawson Forest I had horse riders at 8:30 am. Game warden checked my license on the way out at 9:30 was more concerned with them not signed than horse riders long before the 10 am they supposed to start. Figure state owned park/ Wma will be about the same

And he is correct! My math was waaaaay off! We need to do more like a $400 tax on Atlanta folks. Also maybe some kinda 285 passport fee where you have to pay to come and go?

Its also of interest to note that one of the earliest accepted roles of limited government under english common law was management of the commons, or public land if you will. I sometimes find it interesting that people accept government funding and running of all sorts of things nowadays, but fight against that.
