RIP Mojo Nixon

Mojo was one of a kind. I enjoyed his show on Sirius XM channel 62. I also hear he was good at talking about NASCAR, too.

I saw him and his band on the Outlaw Cruise a few times, that was a wild show.

He was on the 2024 Outlaw Country Cruise when died from cardiac arrest.

So many great songs on his first album in 1983 or so: "The Amazing Bigfoot Diet" - "Gonna Put My Face on a Nuclear Bomb" - "I Hate Banks" :)
The song titles alone let you know that you are in for a real treat!

Love me some Outlaw Country.

But I couldn't stand that mouth breathing moron.

Don't much care for his music, but to each his own. I do respect his staunch anti-commercialism, anti-politician, and anti-celebrity attitude though. I listen to Outlaw Country quite often. Back when the kids were young, if he started talking would have to turn it over to Bluegrass Junction real quick if they were in the truck with me....................... he was quite the linguist so to speak

I ended up with a cd of him and Skid Roper's "Root Hog or Die" early 90's. A couple of the songs were beyond stoopid, but most will leave you with sore ribs from laughing.

"How you live is how you should die," Nixon's family wrote in a statement released on Facebook, where they announced the musician's death.

"Nixon was full-tilt, wide-open rock hard, root hog, corner on two wheels + on fire.

"Passing after a blazing show, a raging night, closing the bar, taking no prisoners + a good breakfast with bandmates and friends.

"A cardiac event on the Outlaw Country Cruise is about right... & that's just how he did it, Mojo has left the building. The statement continued. “Since Elvis is everywhere, we know he was waiting for him in the alley out back. Heaven help us all.”
