What do you plant for bow season?

I’ve had tons of luck over a food plot planted in iron clay peas but they normally don’t last long at all before the deer mow them down. What do you guys like to plan for bow season food plots?

How big of a plot do you have? When do you typically plant them? I am assuming, in your case, a few weeks before bow season?

If your plot(s) are small, start with IC cowpeas then mid to late September broadcast some brassica's on top (radish & turnips). Then early October broadcast wheat and clovers?

Layer them, to keep something edible for the deer thru the season?

I plant Alyce clover in the spring with buckwheat and it's still going strong come bow season and only has to be over seeded for fall with rape and crimson clover.

Shadows idea of Alyce clover is a good one too. Just time to experiment! I gave up with cowpeas when 5 acres wasn't enough.

It's a tuff time of year (August) to plant anything.
