Flatheads and Blues, along with landlocked Striper are THE TOP PREDATORS in freshwater, so get rid of ALL of them unless you want a catfish lake.

As you travel north you might also want to add muskies & northern pike and also maybe big walleyes to your predator list with Big Muskies being the ultimate freshwater predator.

We have muskies here in western NC, and they are definitely the baddest thing in the water locally. I'd say the alligator gar is the absolute apex freshwater predator in the US.
