Why does God choose men? Abraham, Peter, Paul?

Thinking about Peter as the first that Jesus saw after his resurrection, makes me wonder why does God choose certain men for certain tasks or positions?

He even told Peter that "man" didn't reveal to him that Jesus was the son, but his Father in Heaven.

So what purpose is man needed by God to do anything really? Also, God never chose any of these men for their works.

There seems to be a reoccurring theme in the Bible where God/Jesus choose men who are prone to failure.

Adam, Jonah, Jacob, Moses, David, and Peter come to mind.

Men are chosen for salvation.

All and any of the stuff for which we may recognize them is not the reason for their calling...it is simply the useful product of salvation being worked out in them.

God has not called them in His need of accomplishing anything...(all to be done is and has been done in, and by, His Christ).

All "stuff" that is accomplished is in their being gifted the need to know salvation through a revelation of the obedience of Christ. And God's gracious revelation of it.

The wise man becomes a fool, the fool becomes wise, the rich become poor, the poor become rich, the great are laid low, the lowly are elevated, the powerful is made weak, the weak, powerful.

God is efficient beyond measure.

The spirit of Christ accomplishes all.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.

It is hard to understand that John was unlearned!

To take care of the Garden of Eden and to work it originally, but now to salvation as was mentioned already. But the men you list like Peter were probably chosen for their hearts since God searches there now in a way he probably did not have to search in the Garden of Eden. The folk he chose failed in some ways as we all do but God did not fail in choosing them.
