So far in 2018 we are 22 days into a 56 day season (youth weekend included). As of 4/11/18 at 10:30 AM there have been 7356 turkeys killed. This is a average of 334 per day and puts us on pace for 18,724 turkeys killed in 2018.

As the season progresses the total number will drop due to people limiting out and people just losing interest. I expect a reported harvest around 12-13k judging by how this years numbers are mirroring the last two season.

We will see how this plays out over the next month

Based off of those numbers

2016: 11,229 of 16,108 turkeys were reported. 69.7% participation

2017: 11,782 of 25,702 turkeys were reported. 45.8% participation

DNR anticipated the participation of the harvest record to increase each year. This data shows that to not be the case.

The data will never be right for 1 reason lot of kills will never get reported. ...

We go through this every year. You will never have 100% participation in a reporting system, NEVER. What it does give us is trends, and data to base harvest off of. I love the new system, it's not perfect, but you can get an idea of what is being killed and when.

If you don't report your kills you're a very selfish person .

There have been as many kills so far in my county this year than 2016 and 2017 and we are not half way in. Either more folks are reporting and/or more folks are hunting. I'm going to say more are hunting, hearing shots from places weve never heard before close to us. Our population does seem a shade higher than previous years where I'm at.

Let's hope that means compliance is up. The more data Bobby Bond gets the better job he can do.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you won't get 100 percent participation. Not even if only church deacons are allowed to hunt. I doubt you'll ever get past 75%. And if 50% aren't reporting, then 51.7 percent of them are probably killing over their limit. There's just not that many honest humans on earth.

I was going to do the turkey survey app, but forgot about it.

Don’t know what others do but will report mine. Owe it to the resource. Also will quit at 3 if I choose to harvest that many.
