Anyone see the problem here?

My dad recently acquired a nice Kamado Joe. Last week I walked him through using it to smoke ribs. He cooked a slab solo today. Later he and my mom were out riding on the golf cart and got an alert from their doorbell camera. This is what they saw.

A kamado with the bottom vent and the lid open is basically a forge or blast furnace.
