Are you an environmentalist, conservationist, naturalist?

As a hunter/fisherman, I want our outdoors to stay clean and productive. That does not mean I am for stupid things liking taking others lands or driving vehicles that make you think you are an environmentalist, when you are not.
Yes Sir.

Anyone that thinks electric vehicles are "green", don't know much about mining or manufacturing.

They are already so far behind on the net zero or negative zero carbon footprint before they ever leave the plant floor, it ain't even funny.

Assuming NOTHING even goes wrong with it for it's lifespan, it's upside down on the carbon footprint, not to mention if you have to replace that 1000 pound battery. And that's the smaller ones. Some weigh considerably more than that.

I grew up in mining country. Saw technology advance to the point where mountains could be leveled to extract what man wanted. Man is full of himself, thinks he has devised a better plan than the natural balance. Guys like DW end up cleaning up the messes of these fools. Nothing ever goes back as good as undisturbed.

My efforts, I carry an onion sack in my yak. I fill it with trash most float trips. I carry out everything carried in. I donate funds to preserve wild lands when I can. When the last of the wild places go “managed” nature will be at her end. I hope my efforts leave something wild for those after me.

I take a little, and give a little back. Try to keep it "even" with nature.

Kill a deer, trap a coyote.

Run a feeder for the backyard critters.

Get a turtle out of the road.

That sort of thing.

No activist by any means, just responsible for me, mine, and nature.

I’ll leave the labels to somebody else. I try to show respect for the land and animals in whatever I do. I don’t take more than I need and try to just not get in the dang way of the way God designed it.

That's a good way to put it. I am much the same. I am a realistic conservationist. I try to take less than I give in the long run. I am realistic about using resources, but I am also realistic that we can make a difference. I have planted tens or hundreds of thousands of trees in my life. I have removed acres and acres of invasive exotics. I try to leave places better than I found them. I know down to the species about every tree, plant, mammal, bird, amphibian, and reptile that lives on my land. And a lot of the insects. And try to keep them there if they belong. I don't reactively kill things that might have some importance we don't know about yet. Aldo Leopold knew the deal, long before it was cool.

I am the benevolent dictator for life of the denizens of Spring Hill, Monroe county Georgia. My word is law and I am the bringer of death to the fire ants, mosquitos, no see-ums, and especially ticks on my little 15 acres. Other than those critters, I generally let things do what they do without interference from me, except in my role as the apex predator.

Some good responses in here. Was just curious to what folks had to say. Most on here probably already know where i stand so i though id just shut up for once. I do very much respect folks like Aldo Leopold and many others, and have tried to follow their lead. If i had to sum it up i feel we have a consumption problem. Folks feel that they deserve far too much of the earth and what she will give.

She will only give so much. And we don't need that much.

I’m an enjoyer of the way nature is, also an improver of habitat to benefit all species. A giver of my time and resources and a responsible taker of game. Tend to let critters of all kinds live unless they become a pest to the homestead.

I’m here for the blink of a eye. What I do won’t matter. What I leave behind if not cared for. Well I’ll never know.

Yeah well I don't throw trash in the lake river pond or afield. I don't spill/pore oil on the ground no more. Quit burning tires. I don't waste fishes or game. I'm happy with the little i can use. Just as soon have an old one as a new juan if it works.
