Cooking Wood

I have A LOT of pecan and oak wood from trees I dropped back the first of the year and starting to cut up for the winter and cooking. Is there anything to treat this with to keep the bugs out and also be safe to use for smokin?

If you build a little crib between 2 trees or posts to keep it off the ground, the chances of bugs getting in it is small.

I wouldn't put any chemicals on it.
Wood smoke is already a carcinogen and that's bad enough.

If you are feeling really industrious, you COULD smoke the wood under a tarp and that would help a lot.

Powder post borers would be the only thing that would bother the wood once it’s debarked and placed off the ground in a dry place. Don’t use till the wood has fully cured.

Keep it high & dry.

Nothing on it but air.
