nwtf turkey shoot

I was wondering about the nwtf turkey shoot where they count the pellets in a 3 inch circle. Does anyone know the yardage of this shoot and if you aim a the circle or they draw a circle around the most dense part of the pattern. my gun was putting an average of 17 to 25 pellets in the 3 inch circle at 40 yards that was as good as the nwtf targets. So now i am interested in how far they shoot in the competition.

I am pretty sure it is 40 yards

One of the guys at a calling contest told me that he and Kerry Terrel, who works for Kicks Industries, get over 40 pellets in the 3" circle. This is with a buffered load of 9's though. Maybe I heard him wrong?
