ProMaster extension tubes

I just bought these promaster extension tubes which allows me to use my 18x55mm lens as a macro. So far I feel it's worth the price difference than buying a Macro lens. Any thoughts or did I waste my $99 and should have spent the $279 on the macro lens? This set came in 12mm, 20mm and 36mm

extension tubes are always great and a reversing ring works well also

Those can be great fun and very useful. Stack them together in different configurations and see what they will do! Post up some pics for us to see how they worked out.
