Smoker Question

I've been pegged to cook 100 pork chops and maybe 10 lbs of sausage for a wedding reception next weekend (7/15) at an event type place. They have a smoker onsite and it's the standard 125 gallon with firebox. I have not looked inside it yet so not sure if it's a reverse flow with the pipe or what. This is not a formal event, just a family member's party/reception after their elopement.
The venue won't be available to them until 1pm and dinner is at 7pm.

2 questions:
Can I use charcoal in the main part of the smoker under the rack and just clean out afterwards?
Can I use charcoal along with some wood in the firebox?

I smoked tons of pork and chicken on smokers like this over the years but we always used wood in the firebox and it was an all day kind of thing. But I am a little concerned we will be pushed for time. Just thinking of ways to speed it up some whether by just grilling the chops or smoking a little hotter/faster.

If your going to use charcoal use Lump..Burns longer and cleaner. Oh and of course add some hickory.
