WMA reg changes

Was looking through the WMA regulations to try and get an idea for the year, it looks like there are no longer posted small game dates on the WMA regulations when you go to the https://www.eregulations.com/georgia/hunting/wma-regulations-i-p link.

If I recall correctly you were able to hunt small game and waterfowl on any wma if this was not at the same time as a quota hunt or the wma was closed for another activity.

Has anyone reached out the their local station or DNR officer about if this is still the case or it now is no longer allowed unless posted?
I will be making phone calls after work but didnt know if anyone else has faced this issue.

Contacted Region 1 office and got the same answer, all wma unless posted closed will follow state season regarding small game and waterfowl if not specifically outlined or stated.
While they follow state seasons I don't think they allow small game hunting during the archery deer hunting window.

I was told unless the wma has it outlined as being closed, or it is a posted quota hunt then the wma is open following state season.
I appreciate the info! It's strange to me that some WMAs don't even have a small game section under their posted activities in the annual regulations catalog. A lot of my local WMAs don't include a small game listing but their respective DNR website pages say they have a small game season. More consistency would be nice for peace of mind.

The ones that list them have less than the full season open for at least some species of small game, and the rest of them are fully open...sounds pretty consistent to me.

If you're used to reading it that way, then sure. I'm not particularly versed in using public lands for small game so it'd be nice to have it spelled out a bit more thoroughly. I have seen several WMAs list "state seasons" for all small game and several list "no small game" and then some don't list anything at all. Not very consistent, after all.

This is the first year I’ve seen it like this. I read the regs magazine pretty much cover to cover every year. I don’t remember where I saw it, but all the WMAs are following state seasons, unless otherwise posted.

It is spelled out but you have to read through a larger section of the regs to find it. I have always thought it easier to pick up the yearly booklet rather than use the online stuff. Basically any WMA that doesnt say otherwise has an all season long small game hunt.

My main question is whether other seasons like archery deer interfere with small game rifle/shotgun or if state season means state season unless the WMA is closed for a quota hunt.

You can hunt during archery deer unless otherwise stated. Swing by a walmart and get the booklet. Its much more user friendly.

I picked up a few copies, I'm just not seeing the detailed regs section and I find it annoying that some WMAs don't list small game while others do. I think if it's allowed it should be listed or only listed if not allowed at all or during certain times. The information delivery is inconsistent.

Best thing you can do is contact the DNR with your complaint. It won`t do much good here.

It is not my expectation that it would change anything. I am merely explaining why I find it confusing. Seems that discussion is the main purpose of forums to begin with, and that the addressing of problems/concerns is the main purpose of the creator of this specific thread.

Thanks, I hadn't thought of reaching out to DNR a 5th time in the past three weeks. I thought 4 times might suffice. Just having discussion, let me know if that is not allowed on this forum. Thanks.
