I had two that I was going to try (first time) this year. I boiled the first one for about 6 hours on a pretty high heat and that did the job. However, the bones, specifically smaller ones around the nose area, broke off so I didn't get the look I was going for. The 2nd one I did at a much lower/barely bubbling heat to try to avoid making the nose portion as brittle. I think this was heading in the right direction but somewhere around the 4 hour mark I ran out of propane. At the time, I couldn't stop what I was doing and go refill it.
My question is that for the 2nd skull, I would say about 90% of the meat/matter is gone but the small amount that is left is now some form of a harden almost jerky like consistency and I can't get it out/off. Do you have any ideas how to finish it? Should I try to boil it again just to try and get those pieces soft enough to remove or just leave it outside and let nature do its thing over the next few months? I'm not even sure that nature would be able to get this cooked material off.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
