I got the COVID

So I managed to make it 2+ years of not getting it.
I worked with a guy Sunday who was "getting over" it but was coughing like crazy.
I woke up Tuesday morning with a slight sore throat. . Tuesday night was coughing some and had palpitations and irregular heartbeats in bed. (that scared me)
Wednesday just felt miserable, like a case of the flu, some snotty nose, still a cough and muscle soreness and weak. Wednesday night I felt like I had a fever, chills and felt cold even though my skin was hot. Thermometer showed 98.7-99.1.
Thursday morning I went to work even though I felt bad and they gave me a COVID test and I was positive and they sent me home until next week.
I'm at my place in Newnan, plenty of time to do whatever but feel miserable.
By the way the "brain fog" is real. Even having some vertigo. Not like after the vaccine but I am noticing it.

I got it July 14. First time as well, as far as I know. It came up on me fast. One second I am fine and feeling great, no hint of anything wrong, and in the blink of an eye, it hit me full on. Felt very bad in an instant. Scared me a little too, for sure. I was at home and had to lay down. My head hurt, and I had a lot of pressure in both eyes. Body ached all over. Coughing started about 3 days later, and non stop runny nose. Coughing got worse as the days went by. Coughing lasted over two weeks. Breathing was fine the entire time. I was also extremely tired. All I did was sleep nearly all day and night. I couldn't get enough of sleep. For nearly two weeks I was like this. I never lost my appetite, though. I had an appetite, and I ate and drank plenty of water. I never took any meds for it, but probably should've.

As of today, I do feel much better, but I still don't feel 100%. I tested myself with the home test kits 3 times, and it was positive for covid each time. As I started feeling better, I didn't test again. Each time I tested myself, it was an instant positive. As soon as I placed those 3 drops in the tester, that line appeared showing I was positive.

My county (Glynn) as of yesterday, August 10. https://www.sghs.org/documents/COVID-Update-Summary-Updated-8-10-2022.jpg We've had 245 new cases in 7 days.

Hope you get to feeling better, man. Keep us updated.

My wife and I both got something Memorial Day week that sounds similar. I`ve never coughed so much in my life and I smoked for 38 years. It was awful and the worst we`ve both been sick in the last 40 years. I guess we`ll never know if it was Covid or not, but it weren`t no fun.

Hope you get over it with no complications.

Get well soon, luckily the strain going around doesn’t have the pnuemonia as a symptom, much more like the flu.

I got it when it 1st came around. Couldn't taste or smell anything for over a year. I have been around a few people last few months that have had it and it appears the strains have weakened. Haven't seen anyone loosing taste or smell lately. The brain fog definitely is real and still an issue my wife can't tell since she said I was always a bit of an airhead.?
Hope you get to feeling better buddy!

you had the vaccine?:pop:
Yep July last year.

Hope you're feeling better soon. Zinc, Tylenol, cough syrup and fluids got us through it. Mucinex helps if you have it in your lungs.
Been doing the zinc and ibuprofen for the muscle aches, vitamin C and a centrum multi vitamin.

Im coughing up some but could be worse, hope not. My chest and back hurt from coughing and my throat is sore.
As far as I know my O2 level is OK and I dont feel short of breath just warn out.

I just wish folks would stay home when they are sick, FF were the worst. No one wanted to "waste" a sick day so they would come to work and make everyone sick.
I did the same thing today but I don't have any "Sick time" there like I did at the FD.
I would have called out if I did.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

I had it, didn't enjoy it one bit. Hope you feel better.

You got sick because you were around somebody else who had it and passed it on to you. Stay home, stay away from other people, and help break the chain.

Got sick 2 weeks ago. Covid like symptoms - congestion, coughing, etc. Tested negative Thur 28th, Sat 30th, & Mon 1st - all negative.
Coughed so much my back was hurting.
Late Mon night I woke up drenched. I'd sweated off a fever. Felt much better after that.
Telemed Dr. Prescribed me Augmentin on Tue the 2nd. Been on it ever since. Feel good now, but still coughing up junk.

Six weeks out from being positive for Covid. Just getting back to normal. It wasn’t pleasant. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

I'm amazed Covid is still a thing. It's pretty much not even on the radar here in Augusta. Two or three murders (and auto wreck fatalities) a week, but on the news I haven't heard a peep about masking or Covid rates or outbreaks or anything in months.

It’s not very rampant over that way. Stats show 52 cases a week average for the county. With the strain weakened that’s not much impact.

52 cases a week is pretty high. And that’s only the ones you know about. Those who tested themselves with a home test kit and tested positive, like myself, will not be counted in the total results for the county. This junk is everywhere, and will probably be around for a long time.
