Anybody got a source or an idea for implement weights? My subsoiler couldn't cut the dirt this weekend because it was so hard.
Unless your subsoiler has a rack to accommodate standard suitcase weights you may have to get a welding shop to improvise.
Any farm equipment shop or welding shop is sure to have all sorts of surplus metals you can add.
Whens the last time it rained down there? Maybe ya just gotta wait for the oven to cool off a bit?
Well then if you just gotta do it now there is always the poor mans weight. Big log and a ratchet strap! It was a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to turn dirt last weekend while it was still damp but I had too many weed to suit me so I nuked everything with Roundup. This heat last week has cooked everything.

We have 6 ft sections railroad track on our harrowThem ole iron bumpers pretty dang heavy and easy to strap on. Ole piece of railroad track works good too.

We made a concrete weight with rebar handles for some of our implements for the hard Talbot County red clay. While I was sitting there yesterday burning diesel and bouncing my subsoiler over the hard pan I was trying to think what I have that's heavy enough and small enough that I could strap to it and I came up empty.
I may gamble on a couple of suitcase weights. I can always use them when I have my mower hooked up.
I believe that it might be easier to plow a paved driveway than this red clay after the weather we have had this past week
I ratchet strapped a few concrete blocks down on top of my disks. But it’s looking like you might get some rain in the next few days … hopefully
Make you up a frame to hold a fifty five gallon drum in place on your harrow. Install a three quarter inch ball valve in threaded hole in barrel head. Turn the valve down to the bottom of the drum laying horizontally. Above the 3/4 inch hole is a two inch bung hole with a threaded bung screwed in. When you need weight put water in two inch opening, when you don’t need weight, drain the water out. Water weighs 8.34 lbs/gallon. Full drum is about 458 lbs.Anybody got a source or an idea for implement weights? My subsoiler couldn't cut the dirt this weekend because it was so hard.
