Hebrews 4: 12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Is the context by what is before and after in the bible texte ref. Hebrews 4:12 with reference to "word" does it indicate Christ or the word as scripture?

Both. The word aka scriptures point to The Word, Christ the Lord, who would come to live within us and lead us by His spirit.
This can go deeper on both fronts but that was my first consideration.
