Killing a hog without a gun

My how times have changed! The USDA inspectors that are on site for our Monday pig killin's will write you up if you so much lay a hand on the animal forcing it down the chute. Heck, last week they made the guy killn not allow the next pig in line see the first get kilt! It scares them he said.......

As an aside, I use an electric bike when hunting at home and been thinking a calvary charge on a group in a food plot with a spear would be a rush.
Then you gotta have your face painted like Northgeorgiasportsman said... Oh yeah, and wear a leather loin cloth

Some truth to that. My granddaddy would butcher two hogs at once. The first hog would come running up to see if some slop was about to be handed out. He would drop that hog with a .22 short between the eyes. The second hog would stick his head in a corner and not come out. My cousin and I would have to poke the 2nd hog with sticks and try to chase him out so granddaddy could put the coup de grace to him.

Second hog knew what was coming.

Possibly, if you can get somebody to hold it for you.

In my first post, let me rephrase. We never cut a hog`s throat like we did a steer. We "stuck" it. Soon as the hog hit the ground, straddle it. With your left hand grab the hog`s right front foot and lift the head and front end off the ground. When you did that, the head wouold tilt back and you coud see the swaller pipe and big veins against the skin. Then stick that knife right in there and twist it around good, juggin` the end of the blade around. that always did the trick.

Cutting the throat would cut the jowls too bad, and we always saved those too.
If you can stomach it, just put a garbage bag around its head and suffocate it.
LOL. Your tough

Squirrel hunting

A man goes squirrel hunting, carrying no gun. A game warden sees he has several squirrel's in his bag, and asked how he killed them. He said, I ugly them to death. Game warden was amazed, and asked if anybody else had ever done this. The man replied, I used to bring my wife along, but she just tore them up too badly!

I would stand over a blindfolded pig and bust it hard across the top of the head with an axe or heavy sledge hammer. You split its wig and it aint gonna make a peep

Went pick up my sow this evening. Boss hog was 650 and mom was full grown too. I had a stroke of good luck. I was talking to the butcher just down the road, small country store, and lo and behold he's a licensed abattoir. Showed me his cooler out back. I've been in there several times and even asked if he could source a small pig for me but he's strictly beef and lamb. He did loan me his bolt. All went smoothly. Got the scalding and cleaning done, she's on ice. Gonna smoke her Sunday. Built a makeshift pit. I'll work on resizing some pics and post them tomorrow.
