Heck, last week they made the guy killn not allow the next pig in line see the first get kilt! It scares them he said.......
Possibly, if you can get somebody to hold it for you.
In my first post, let me rephrase. We never cut a hog`s throat like we did a steer. We "stuck" it. Soon as the hog hit the ground, straddle it. With your left hand grab the hog`s right front foot and lift the head and front end off the ground. When you did that, the head wouold tilt back and you coud see the swaller pipe and big veins against the skin. Then stick that knife right in there and twist it around good, juggin` the end of the blade around. that always did the trick.
Cutting the throat would cut the jowls too bad, and we always saved those too.
LOL. Your toughIf you can stomach it, just put a garbage bag around its head and suffocate it.

Never heard of getting goats drunk haha. Seems like a waste of good liquor though when bullets are much cheaper.
This one was well used. It was made by a company in England that has been in business for a hundred years. I emailed them with the product name and serial number to see if I could get a manufacturing date.Glad you got it taken care of. Captive bolt guns are generally expensive. You can find a deal sometimes though. I have one from a rabbit supply place that was less than a hundred. Does a great job on anything up to goats/sheep.
