My son killed his first deer with a Marlin 30-30 but it didn't look like this. What do y'all think about this mod?

I like it. Years ago, I rescued a TERRIBLE 336 from a pawn shop. I hacked it off at 16-1/4", baked some of that spray on Dura Coat from Brownells, and redid the stocks with trunk splatter and spray bomb camo.
To this day, everybody that sees it wants it...

I guess so. I look at a lot of things and ask why. but a flash suppressor on a 30-30? seems a bit far to me

It's aluminum so about the same as a regular one.

I got a buddy that did a Marlin 45-70 like that, crazy looking stock the whole nine yards. To each his own though. I just like a pretty wood stock and blued barrels etc..nothing prettier in my opinion. Gives a man reason to be even more careful with them. I have a 1967 Winchester model 94 classic that has been a safe queen 56 years and barely a nick anywhere. My pa in law was just the opposite, couldn't care less if they got beat up. "They just guns boy" god rest his soul.

The finish you see now is at least 30 years old. It has done "behind the truck seat" duty for 20 of those years...
Nobody wanted it, in that pawn shop. So why not?

And I reamed Ruger out real good just today on a similar subject.

It’s different but what a fewer of the new styles look like. I sure it will preform just fine.
