Also curious to know

Technically, yes, by way of a map. But, it’s not your typical burb ordeal. The land/lines in question are a few dozen acres on a County easement and property that’s never been touched, other than by a mower ever other year. This is why it’s so difficult to swallow. Even spoke to the County folks to be sure due to the easement and all, and they have approved (of course because it’s legal)…. but even he was baffled by the stance.

Definitely didn’t mean to get 8 pages of guys all up in arms ?. Again, I’m going to do what’s right as hard as it is to swallow. In hindsight, sure I could’ve taken the deer, gotten him and be in the truck buck list! BUT, the moral compass got me and there’s many more deer to be fetched.

How far does he have to go to be off the property you can hunt? Curious because I’ll be in a similar situation behind my house (although my neighbor and I get along fine).

More power to you, sir….hard as it is to swallow it appears you have a clean conscience….was this a Cobb county buck?

Man if you are sure you like this buck, and think you can arrow him, I'd hunt it. I would not let some curmudgeon keep me from hunting. And if it went over the line, I'd deal with that then...not hunting the piece of property and the curmudgeon wins. It's not a moral thing, how you handle the dead deer may be, but hunting it is your prerogative. I'd climb the tree...

Let's say it goes over the line...then go tell him and ask politely again to retrieve it...if he says no then it is what it is...and he has to live with that. But I bet you he allows you to retrieve it...

He is betting on you being less of a curmudgeon than he is and acquiescing!

I would not do that...

Good on you. I live in a similar situation. What some refuse to accept is there are some who view wildlife as view only. Or, they protect this property by virtue as adjacent ownership. They may or not hunt. But this thread has been a critique of how we respect the ideas and actions of others, just because we dont agree....todays society in general. Sad.

I know a guy who's paranoid to the high heavens about being sued for every little thing. He wouldn't let a soul on his property in fear that something would happen that would open him up to a lawsuit. I'm sure there are lots of other people out there who feel the same way.

This may not be well received, but have you considered alternative shot placement? 20 yards should be a chip shot….I’ve seen a few deer dropped in their tracks with a bow and finished with a quick follow up shot

If this comes about pictures would be required or it didn't happen. But please insure that they are taken them from a reasonably long distance and at a carefully considered angle.

In all seriousness though, as the world changes around us this type of thing is gonna become more and more common. Gone are the days of the ol timers who could just roam across whoevers farm as long as they were respectful. All we can do as hunters is try to be polite and good neighbors as the rest of the world gets less understanding of our way of life.
