string dampener ?

Mabe not the correct name , but is it better to put something on the limbs for the string to hit against ? I have seen some with leather strips on the limbs ? New to Trad bow hunting. I have had the bow for years .Old hoyt wooden one piece recurve. 45#@28 inch .

I have wrapped the ends of the string in yarn where they contact the limbs and I have also used mole skin.

There are probably tons of this stuff between 3rivers and Lancaster Archery. 5 people will give you five different ways to do it.
The best thing to quiet down a bow is finding the correct brace height and a tuned arrow. Good Luck.

I wrap the string with yarn like Gregory B said And I shoot heavy arrows. Heavy arrows go a long way toward making a bow quiet.
