.22 Magnum

Planning on doing some squirrel hunting after deer season in an area that has plenty of hogs. Is there a .22 mag. round that will work on hogs but not tear up a squirrel? I know I can make a head shot but I'm hoping that I can take a fox squirrel or two that I can mount.

I am not the hog nor the squirrel expert but I would think that any solid round would work and the heaver the better for hogs. Solids should give you the best penetration for hogs and should not blow up on squirrels.

Even though the FMJ rounds don't blow up themselves, they still blow up the squirrel. If you want to mount a fox squirrel I would not shoot it with the .22 mag. Half of its head will be gone.

TMJ should be the best

I've hunted squirrels with a 22 mag and wouldn't suggest it. Get a good 22 long rifle bullet. It will kill a hog too.
