I don't recond I've ever seen a 17 year cicada-locust-July fly. Every year we do have some 13 year bugs. Most years they ain't so plentiful. Ever once in a while though, they'll be so many you can't hear yourself think.

And then they all stop at the same time and ya get a short break. :huh:

The seasonal cicadas are what we always call July flies. There’s a hatch every year. The thirteen year cicadas which I think we are experiencing now, we’ve always called cicadas.

I won't say what I called them growing up.
Single wide, no a/c, windows open, little fan with 3 blue buttons going back and forth, 1 am, 127 degrees.
Weeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.. ...

Ahh the good old days.
