I’ll go first. Not 100% sure these are the same buck but his pattern said it had to be. The deer lived behind my house in the summer and would leave as soon as he got hard horned. He would come back some during the rut but wouldn’t hang around 2016 but stayed 2017 till open archery and I actually shot him opening afternoon but never found him. He disappeared all archery season and showed back up first week of gun. I was able to get another chance at him but the arrow hit a tad to far forward and never found him that time either. That time he disappeared till the next summer and when he showed up he had a big knot on his side where the broad head hit the year before. He stuck around all summer 2018 but left before archery and hasn’t been see since.

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. Did you ever take a guess on age over the years?

It happens. Try to let bucks reach 5.5yrs old but not everyone feels the same way. As long as it’s a trophy to them. I’ve got a lot of pictures of bucks that make a big jump from 4.5 to 5.5 but also have seen some that make no noticeable change.
Is that the biggest jump year from personal experience? More so than the 3-4?

Every deer is a little different. I would say from my experience and my part of the state you get a lot of 12-15” jumps from 3-4 and again 4-5. 110” 3yr olds that jump to low to mid 120” 4yr olds and then your upper 130” to low 140” 5yr old. There’s always those temping 135-140” 4yr olds but they are the same bucks that can break 150” at 5yrs old. Also some bucks never seem to break that 130” barrier.

This is gold.

Anything with earlier ages? I always wonder, if a fawn is born early spring, can he be a solid fork horn with say a 6 or 8” main beam? Or would mr Forky be 1.5? Like what would be max antler growth a 6 month old buck would have

I’ve always thought every buck fawn would only have nubs the first yr and might could have small spikes if born early
