Buckets full ! I think they produced just a few at 4-5 years old . Now they absolutely cover the ground during archery season . And they get hammered . I’d bet if you don’t get a late freeze you’ll have some this yearAntharper,
Are you getting any acorns yet? I planted some 7 gallon trees in December 2021 and they are all doing well. Just wondering how long before I might get some acorns. Thanks
Potted....we planted them from acorns 2 years ago.Are you planting potted trees or bare root ?
I planted several 10-12 years ago . I got them from a nursery straight out of the ground , I guess they were 1 year old . I planted 20-30 as soon as I got them . Potted about that many and planted them the next year .
Didn’t have much luck with the bare root trees but nearly 100% on the ones I potted
@Jim Boyd could probably give you some advice. I sent him a bunch of acorns he planted in pots and eventually planted in the ground I think.About to plant some saw tooth oaks saplings, I have planted them in the past but I wanted to check and see if anyone had any tips on making them the most successful, ie fertlizer in the hole, watering, etc. I plan to use grow tubes, dig a hole and put them in it.
I’ve had 2 years since mine started producing that they got fried by late frost . I’m in West Ga , Troup . And I think mine are closer to 15 years old .I bought a property with a couple dozen mature trees. Every year (now 6 years) I've owned the property the crop has been lost to a late freeze. My opinion is that they are not a good hard mast tree for the north Georgia mountains.

Hope they all make it.…and they are appreciated!
They were planted early spring and I think I have about 160
Ready to plant in early February
They will be about a year old when planted.
They have just gone dormant about a month ago.
I thought I had some recent pics but they are about 2’ tall now.
Thank you Mr. Jim.....very helpful as always!Put in 52 pears when we planted the oaks.
Last two years, hard frost has been tough
