sawtooth oaks

Mine are in the wide open in a old field so they get plenty of sunlight. They do have some weed competition around them though. I do mow around them, but I guess I need to kill all the weeds ? Via chemicals or a lot of mulch
Mulch around a tree is recommended. Mine that were in the yard were mulched for the first 4-5 years. Some in my food plot were not and didn't produce until year 10.

I planted some saw tooth oaks on our property 5-6 years ago. No acorns.
Leasing that land out this year. Hope it produces for them. Bought my seedlings from Ga forestry.

Anybody ever had problems with something eating all the leaves off your sawtooths? Some of mine were destroyed and they're 12' or better. They looked fine two weeks ago

Probably oak worms. They're bad this year. It shouldn't hurt the trees.

Thats the same ones that stripped my overcup oak earlier this week. Didn't mess with my sawtooths though. Ant spray will kill them quick I found out!!
