Been real slow on my lease so me and my crossbow came out to some public land for a change of scenery. Hunted here thurs morning and found some big fresh scrapes 100yds farther in from where I sat. I'm 25 yards from one of em now hoping he'll come clean it out between rain showers.

Got some squirrel movement now, but no other shots heard since first lite. No deer yet.

Very quiet here in nega. Only a few squirrels. I heard someone unload about 8 quick rounds a couple miles away, at around 745. Not sure what that was about. Other than that....silence

We are about to go see if he hit the deer. If he did, we’ve got some work to do before I go to my lease this eve.

I just now heard my neighbor's mule or whatever it is scream for the 1st time this morning. It usually does that right after sunrise. Maybe everything is sleeping in this morning lol.

I am going to give it another 30 minutes, then I will be calling it. Got a family thing going on this afternoon, got to help prepare for that.

Can hear something moving off and on in the thicket in front of me, started about 20 minutes ago.

Saw a big body in the oaks but never saw the head. Getting mighty dark. I'll sit a while in this light drizzle but if it gets much harder I'm calling it quits.

Deer is alive and well. Only found a few drops of blood. My buddy with dogs is back in town so he brought them out. We tracked the deer 1400 yards.
