It probably shoots bullets too fast to expand and you don't get a blood trail. Or something like that.

You can tell a .270-W is only fit for paper targets by how little recoil it has and the muzzle blast won't even bother the neighbors.Yeah. Lord knows that caliber can't handle big game.
are you sure that isn't the .25-06?You can tell a .270-W is only fit for paper targets by how little recoil it has and the muzzle blast won't even bother the neighbors.
I always thought the 25-06 was kinda loud, myself. Small bores burning decent amounts of powder equals lots of muzzle blast in my experience.are you sure that isn't the .25-06?
I was in a stand not much more if it was 100 yards from a buddy's house in his yard. I shot a deer in the opposite direction of the house and tried to wait out a second one to no avail. I got down from the stand and chased the second one away and drug the other one where it would be easier to see in the dark that was about on me. I went to get a quad for recovery at the house. He asked, "Did you shoot a deer? I didn't even hear the shot."
Most of us know the old standbys are more than sufficient. But we can always use an excuse to buy a new gun.Hmmmm nope, the only thing that flung a craving on me in years is a .35 Whalen. I’m too old now to hunt critters that justify the gun over what my .308 can do. I’ll just stick with what’s proven.

The 250 Savage is a great accurate round. I have a full stock custom rifle built by the late master gunsmith Jim Dorn. Great for predators deer and hogs. It is my 14 year old granddaughter’s favorite rifle now. Trying to find another. Finding ammo isn’t a problem since I reload. My vote would be for the 308 MArlin Express. I love mine and it's very accurate and a proven deer killer out of a lever action rifle. I love the 250 Savage too. I never understood why this cartridge seems to have fallen by the way side. It's a great deer round.
My wife has a savage model 1920 in 250 savage. We have taken a few antelope and deer with it the 250 is a wonderful cartridge that is far better balanced than many believe. An accurate, appropriately powered number that offers low recoil in light rifles. We don't use it much anymore. The 250 should be undergoing a resurgence in my opinion.
