What is this?:huh: I found it in a flowerbed that has been filled with pinebark beside the house, it don't move unless you touch it where the segments are? it is about 2 1/4 inches long.

i think it is a wolf(maybe misspelled) i seen something like that from a squirrel i shot in early fall.

Looks like a butterfly or moth cocoon.

You got me curious to find out what that is.... After looking at some stuff it looks to be a Luna Moth Cocoon

Put it in a jar with air holes, of course. It will hatch and then you will know for sure. It is not a Luna moth, they make a silken cocoon in leaves and hatch from that. Not sure which that is, but I am pretty sure that is a butterfly pupae or chrysalid. Let it emerge and you can get some nice pics.

It could be. I caught a big fat Luna Moth Caterpillar on my deer blind last year and let it overwinter in a jar. It made a big silk cocoon and we let it emerge and then let it go. That pupae may be one that came fell out of the cocoon:huh: I'd put it in a jar and let it hatch
