I guess when I shortened the coal it did something funny pressure wise and would throw the cold bore shot.

your combustion chamber is smaller..your velocity could very well be higher a small amount.

check the fps on both rounds

Look at the Nosler Accubond if you like the partitions .... they shoot better to me and they do a good job on deer....

I shoot the 110 grain Accubond in my .25/06 ....

Most people don't really have a handle on barrel harmonics. I sure didn't until I spent awhile working with the BOSS on my Browning. The BOSS is a tuner that helps you find a node. Barrel Harmonics is a good thing to learn. When I work up a load I always search for a node with bullet seating depth.
Here are a couple of cold, clean, bore groups from my 7 mag. I take full responsibility for the flyers and blame it on old eyes.

Is the barrel free floated? If so can you run a dollar bill down it without sticking? Wondering if pressure on the barrel might change from cold to something slightly different after you rip a round through it.

Yes barrel is free floating.
