Gone But Not Forgotten
What will this do to the small game hunter. If they continue to extend it, they will virtually take away most of the small game season.
Since that was slated toward someone who was crying about non residence only having to paying 47 dollars to fish in Florida compared to hunting here, well , you do count on us way more than we do you. Think about it. If you can't figure it out, then you really have no clue why you do not pay state income tax.
2017-2018 Regular Session - SB 122
Status History
Jan/08/2018 - Senate Recommitted
All kidding aside most hunters don't shoot that many but a 12 doe bag limit does give off the perception there are pleny of does.
Bill update:
Needs to close after Thanksgiving like it used to.
Change the dates totally for the way down south folks that their rut is in late Dec or Jan.
By doing that you are denying me the chance to hunt the rut in my area. Please do a little research before making such statements.
Your kidding. You mean you do know? Well I guess you think we just come to fish and we don't stay at these hotel/condos. Or eat at the restaurants or go to all these other places you so readily posted. I was not talking about fishing license revenue at all. It's not license revenue from out of staters that keep us from paying state income taxes, it's the mouse house, casino gambling, Sea World, Universal, other theme parks around Florida, and vacation revenue in general that keeps us from paying state income tax. Dont get me wrong, your hotel stays are part of that money, but if Georgians suddenly boycotted fishing Florida, then I still would not have to pay state income tax, as we cater to the world down here, fishing included, not just to Georgia. Not sure what would happen to Georgia wildlife programs if out of staters suddenly decided to boycott hunting in your state but if nearly 50% of the licensing revenue suddenly disappeared I'm pretty sure that would hurt, let alone what business's might suffer economically as well.

I agree license fees have very little impact on total revenue from visitors to FL. There are many many other reasons to come here and we didn't have state taxes long before some GA folks started coming down regularly.
Fact is, revenue from GA residents is so minuscule it's not worth mentioning when speaking about FL economy.
I'd bet GA makes more profit from people just passing through to come to FL than FL makes on all GA visitors every year.
In other words, FL has a lot less to lose than GA does when it comes to two states competing.
I'm all for FL putting $350 fees on a year long out of state fishing license. Then additional stamp taxes for scallops, tarpon, redfish, snook, wahoo, etc.
if you want it, you'll pay it (sound familiar?). If not, no big deal really to FLs economy.
Your sales tax argument doesn't hold water. OOS folks pay sales tax on everything they buy in Ga, at the same rare Floridas is. Nice try, though. What a tremendous political and business advantage it is to collect revenue from folks who aren't voters or stakeholders. Let's bump it on up to 75%. Just for fun.
If they stop coming and land demand goes down, that would not be a bad thing. If they keep coming, and pay, more money is not a bad thing.
Florida and Tennessee do the same thing to me when I visit them through their sales tax (the residents of those states have no state income tax. Smart.).
