It seems to hit some in their mid 50s from what I have noticed over the years.

Tired of keeping up with feeders to out corn your neighbors

Love being in the woods but killing a deer could care less if I do or don’t anymore.

This morning had a few hens really vocal on the roost and 3 gobblers firing off with them. Could listen to that vs a deer walking out

Deer hunting can be expensive as you want it to be, or it can be basically free.

free is tough here in Ga, I know you like public lands, but the problem down here is the public land that is within a short drive of major population areas are over run with people on the weekends, if I were retired I could hunt during the week without running into a bunch of people, but the weekends ? no way ! and half the ones out there on the weekends either have no common sense , or were never shown how to hunt by an experienced person,

If I lived further away from the metro area I'd likely give public land hunting a chance again, I did in my younger years, and even then I had to deal with dummies constantly

Your a good feller and you help people out with car problems anytime you can on here. If you pm me i'll tell ya where two chunks of public land are you can hunt and not be overrun with folks mostly.

Sometimes it aint the hunting its just the way you go about it. Maybe do different hunts. Maybe go to a different spot. For me i cant sitting in one area so i'll move around sometimes. Sitting in a blind bores me to death so i never use one. I got tired of starin at a fish finder and listening to a trolling motor so i got a kayak.

You can absolutely find public land that isn’t overrun with people. It’s not that hard, either. Just don’t think like everybody else. I hunt public land a good bit, and very seldom see anyone else. Killed a buck on public a couple days ago. Nobody else in sight for three days.

I was getting ambivalent toward hunting, would rather go fishing...then I got hurt last year and couldn't hunt, about drove me crazy. This year I bought a nicer tract of land (than the piece I owned in Taylor) in February and have a desire to hunt I haven't had in a few years.

I am excited as a kid at Christmas, waiting for Nov.18th to get here.

Have a public piece close to our property that does not get overwhelmed due to it being in a rural area where folks have a club or their own land.

Going to put a ladder up on it next week but truth is deer hunting has lost its shine for me, just with costs of feed, feeder issues, travel to family property, etc I can hunt public within 20 minutes of the house for next to nothing but have hunted in GA since early 90’s so hard to break the habit.

TRT might help? Joking, not joking. As we age our testosterone drops and our energy, drive to achieve, and be physically active drops with it. Now obviously hunting goes deeper than that, but a lot of men over 50 lose the drive to do things they were once passionate about. It also helps with physical recovery. Or it could have nothing to do with it. I’m just throwing ideas out.

I don’t have feeders and stuff. Part of the enjoyment of it for me is finding where the deer are and hunting there instead of trying to bring deer to where I want to hunt.

We have our own land been in family long time it’s down at the end of long road surrounded by timber land. It’s so quiet there you can’t hear anything modern. I enjoy going there even when it’s not season just to get away. But my drive to kill one don’t matter much any more. I taught my 2 sons to hunt one loves it the other don’t care for it. The one that hunts has 2 boys that loves to go one of them killed a nice 8 point 2 year ago , made his papa proud. So now I go to enjoy outdoors and watch the kids get em which I enjoy as much as if we’re me. But if one comes by I’ll get him but if not I’ve had a good day in the woods. The first thing that I think of now before I pull trigger is do I want to or not ? Sure is a lot of work fixing to start if I do, and sometimes I talk myself out of it.God made the outdoors for us to enjoy I believe , so do it any way you like and give him Thanks.

Hang in there man. It's easy to get discouraged now days. You might have buddies at work that have access to land where they say they see 15-20 big bucks every time they go, but they just aren't big enough to shoot....etc.

I say if you want some meat, then shoot a doe or spike or 4 pt or 6 pt or whatever if it's legal. I've had an earlier experience, where a game warden called me at work, accusing me of hunting without a license, although I had everything I needed. I lost a lot of drive to go out, and haven't even been again, yet, but things like this are going to continue to happen. It's a new world.

I'd rather go sit out the woods, watch the squirrels, birds, rabbits, and other critters run around than sit at home and watch the depressing news. That's a good day if you ask me.

The rut is coming up. They're about to be running around all over creation, so you might get lucky. If not, you'll get to see some nature, while we still have a little bit left in ga, and it'll be a lot better than watching stories about the thugs killing each other daily in atl, or babies getting beheaded and women getting cut up and raped in Israel.

Been hunting hard since I was 10 with my dad. Been bow only since 2006. Killed plenty of deer and one pope and young 2 years ago in Ohio. Been to Kentucky, Missiouri and Ohio. Yet over the last few years it’s hard to find the passion I once had and I don’t like it. I’m sitting in a double man stand with a 300 mag that I killed my last gun deer with in 2006. I would usually carry a stand way back and hunt a prime place with my bow and 44mag pistol but I just made myself go to this stand or I would have went back to sleep. Any of y’all went throw a lull where you just didn’t have the drive and it came back. I guess my biggest problem is I enjoy fishing to much. My 20 year old son is across the ridge and he don’t go but a few times. His passion is Turkey hunting and duck hunting. My 13 year old daughter killed her first deer last year but she didn’t want to go today. I guess I can see why a hunting club and just sitting next to a fire in the evenings is so enjoyable the older I get. Anyways it’s getting shooting light. Good luck everyone and I hope y’all kill a big one.
I'm about the same. Once this cwd hits GA I'll probably by another boat and get back into filling the freezer with fish and turn the property into a small game / dove spot

Understand completely. Before baiting was allowed was on leases where you found the sign and hunted that

Now it is who can out corn your neighbor.

Even here on public baiting is rampant, so much where I do not want to blindly climb a tree only to get busted for bait I had no idea was there within 100 yards of me

I see these posts ever year. And I don’t understand them.
Me either. He needs some strong counseling. I go to counseling when the season ends lol. Then my brain starts racing on all the things I can do to make my property even better for me and the boys when those 9.5 months are over. I may turkey hunt here and there and I enjoy watching my boys play sports but the excitement of the walking to the stand this morning is like nothing else. It could all change when the boys get older and the possibility of them finding other interests like the opposite sex or going off to college.

One thing is for sure is that they will have a nice place waiting on them to hunt if they still find time to go with me.

TRT does help with energy and motivation, I've been on it for years, but the desire to do something has to be there first, TRT is something MOST men over 45 need to consider and have their doctor check their level, it helps in multiple ways, frame of mind, muscle tone, weight loss, energy and stamina
