Yeah, my grandparents always had 12-15 cats around the farm. They never had a problem with rats, but they also never had any rabbits or squirrels either. As an enthusiastic young hunter, nothing made me angrier than seeing a cat drag a rabbit in the yard.

Back then, rabbits were big-game to me.

I don`t place poison around my homestead at all.

1 cup of cornmeal, 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of plaster of paris. Mix well and put it in a place that other critters cant get to it.

Alkyseltzer will make them and their flying cousins (pigeons) do that.. they can't burp and go ... POP.
