@Burton as far as lures go I throw any shad imitation. Small crank baits, rooster tails, white jigs, chartreuse jigs, etc. Muddy water slows the bite way down. Stained water is a different story. I’ve caught hundreds in stained water
Don't forget my go to.. Creme Lil' Fishie.

Yep, little rascal's say'n holds as true as ever .... 3rd blue bird sky day after it rains... water has cleared enough for them to get out and feed, but still stained enough they can't see you or your line and mistake your lure for live minnows.

My plans.

As for lure selection, so far this year two lures have far outproduced everything else. A 1/8 oz Berkley Flicker Shad crankbait in gold when there is some stain to the water, and white or chrome when it is clear. Second a 1/8 oz 1.5" blue and white Johnson Swimming Paddletail Jig. Bobby Garland crappie jigs in some sort of blue/gray/white on a 1/16 oz jighead has been the best producer of yellow bass. This will be the first week I haven't got out on the river in a while. Stuff going on the first half and heading to TN tomorrow for a few days.

Thanks guys, I was throwing a 1/4 and a 3.25 rage swimmer (for bass). The bass fishing isn't too good until it warms up a little more and the water clears up.

I'll downsize and take some other baits with me next time and see what I can get.

Had a small window this morning. Hadn't wet a line in Lanier in a year or 2. As expected I didn't catch anything but the water was beautiful. Ither than an occasional boat more deer seen, 10 than people, 6. Pretty peaceful. Just short. Back at truck 1.5 hours.

Picked up some trash on the way out and found a few soft plastics. No kids around to give them to so I rinsed and dried. I'll put in a zip lock bag and who knows from there.

Decided I’d give West Point a try since I’ve never been there and see it talked about. WOW you can make a fish fry in a hurry there . Caught well over 60 fish. All released back to grow. A couple decent ones in the mix.

Two of the best days of fishing I’ve had in a long time. One little hiccup there though…….. Big numbers of white bass yesterday and good overall size. Targeted nothing but stripers today with big lures and that’s all I caught. Probably 24-28 in 3.5 hrs all on artificial.

My good friend from Cajun Country and I hit the river for a while today. Alternating between targeting white bass and stripers. White bass may be starting to slow down some and some of them appeared to be spawned out but still consistently catching them along with some yellow bass mixed in. Brought home a few of those for supper. Not as good of a bite as last week, water temp has came down a good bit, but the highlight of the day were topwater stripers.
