That’s why I cut my own. o_O

I gave my yard a price last year when my wife asked how much I would charge for it.

It came out to about $65 per cut for basic.

Detail blowing, picking up debris (7 large pine trees 2 Magnolias, and 6 large oaks from the neighbor on the property line and 2 gums by the road) and what ever misc would easily add another $60-80 per week.

Needless to say, I give my own yard about a $40 job.
Just remember this rule,
Whenever someone has to hire out work whatever the price it is alway too much.
Whenever someone applies for work they are always worth more than that. Hope this helps. :D

A man in good shape with a push mower and a weed wacker could make an absolute killing offa some o these rich folks yards. You could have your equipment paid off on the first job.

Do u have a grass catcher in that push mower. I’d like the pine straw replaced also. :)

I think I'll start paying myself to cut my yard. It takes 2hrs to cut and trim. I'll figure my more and weed eater should be worth $80/hr. $160 every 2 weeks would give me a fairly nice supplemental income per month

You apparently have never bought mowers, weedeaters, trucks, trailers, blowers, backpack sprayers, chemicals, licenses, insurance, couple hundred gallons of gas a week, and hired employees and paid their taxes, SS, and workman's comp.

I've run the numbers before and I don't see how they make a living. Take my case...$200 a month for cutting the grass, trimming the shrubs and debris removal, 4 times a month. The crew is you and two employees.

Suppose you had 60 yards under contract. I figure you can cut 10 yards a day, if you really hump it, due to loading and unloading equipment, drive time between yards, lunch, rain delays, etc.

So you are working 6 days a week, long days at that, for $12,000 a month. That's $144,000 a year. Then paying all the above expenses that NCHB has noted. At least $40-$50,000 would come off the top to pay your two employees.

Profit would be thin.

Also, I bet the owner spends his Sunday's getting his gear repaired and stocked for the next week.

And I have not even mentioned those people who cancel service for 3-4 months after the last fall leaves have been blown off.

I can see why working at Walmart, Home Depot or Lowe's would have an appeal. You make $15-$20 an hour, get benefits and vacation, plus you work in a climate controlled building to boot.

Ok
Son InLaw said to him. This is tge one that told him we just bought the place.
SIL says 400 which I think is to little.
Nan says last year I got it done for 200.
Hedges picking up. Hauling off. Mowing. Weed eat.
I can tell the hedges was not done. Weeds in the rock garden. It was mowed but about it.
You could mow it for 200 and break even.

For sale signs up. Now did he buy it or for sale.
So then if for sale it was a lie to maintain. If not I would keep who ever was doing it for 200 each time.

DON'T DO IT.
The Biden IRS will want you to include the payments in income on your tax return and will not allow a deduction because it is a personal expense. LOL

Well several lawn cares said they mow a acre for around 80 average.
So that yard is every bit of 2 range.
Just to mow I’d say 150 to 200 by most places. No hedges no nothing else.

You half to be at 300 minimum a month on contracts now, Especially if you have employees,The going rate is 18/22 hr on maintenance. If you have a construction crew also that is 23/30 per hr easy.So you run multiple crews, Fuel is flying out the window, Add equipment 3/4 grand a week easy in fuel, That may be conservative .
And you add materials insurance plus just opening the doors is hard .You need to be averaging 20 thousand per month on maintenance per 2 man crew. Then on grading site work hard scapes construction jobs you need to be doing 30 thousand and up per week.
And the very bla, The government wants to tax you for everything now.Pay more and they find away to get more from you..
Makes profits not so big..

Loaded up yesterday afternoon to go do this plant peas job. It took a hour. Instead of loading the mower to mow. Loaded my bad boy. Small clover plot to mow. The fields are nice where I’m going to spray the clover. And now it’s sprinkling rain. Was to rain Thursday. Can’t spray the clover with that.
Now what ?

Tractor 4wheelers. Bad boy loaded.

My father has cut grass on the side since before I was born, I believe his minimum show up price is now well over $100 for a "mow, blow, and go" service, it doesnt matter if your yard is a tenth of an acre. He stays covered up in work.

...

My elderly neighbor across the street has a lawn service that cuts once a week or every other week and it's literally like watching a Mexican clown car unload when they pull up.
She has about half an acre, they have 2 lawnmowers going, 1 or 2 weedeaters, and sometimes 2 people blowing, and someone edging.
Everyone has their task and hits the ground running when that truck goes into park.
It's a sight to see.

My grandmother lived in one of those neighborhoods where the houses were about 4' apart. They had 1 lawn service come in and do the whole neighborhood at once. They'd literally just run the lawnmower up and down the street through the yards, then had a bunch men out there detailing.
I never liked going there on yard day, you felt in the way.
